Passenger App Manual — Syncc Pasajero
This guide covers every screen and flow in the Syncc Pasajero mobile app. The app helps transit passengers find bus routes, track buses in real time, and — once the payments feature launches — pay fares digitally.
Getting Started
What you need
- A smartphone running Android 8+ or iOS 14+
- The Syncc Pasajero app installed
- An internet connection (mobile data or Wi-Fi)
- Location permission enabled for the best experience
- A WhatsApp account (required for login and QR payment features)
The app works in guest mode without logging in — you can browse routes and track buses immediately. Log in only when you want to access your profile, favorites, or the payments feature.
1. Home Page (/home)
The Home Page is the main screen of the app. It opens automatically when the app launches and shows an interactive map of your city with live bus positions.
Map
- The map centers on your current GPS location when the app starts.
- Live bus pins — colored markers show buses that are currently active on a route. Tap any bus pin to see its line name and next stop.
- The map updates in real time via a live connection to the server.
Searching for a route
- Tap the search bar at the top of the screen: ¿A dónde quieres ir?
- Enter your destination — a street name, landmark, or neighborhood.
- The app uses your current GPS location as the starting point. You can also type a custom starting location.
- Tap Buscar or press Enter.
Route suggestions
The app presents a list of transit options that get you from your origin to your destination:
Each suggestion card shows:
- Line number and name (e.g. "Línea 21 — Centro / Miraflores")
- Route direction (Ida / Vuelta)
- Estimated time of arrival (ETA) of the next bus at your boarding stop
- Total fare (when payments are active)
- Total travel time including walking segments
- Transfer count — whether you need to change buses
Tap any suggestion to open the Route Detail Page.
Walking legs
When a route is planned, the app also shows:
- Walking path from your location to the boarding stop (dotted line on the map)
- Walking path from the alighting stop to your destination (dotted line on the map)
- Walking times are estimated using road-network data (OSRM foot profile)
Navigation Drawer
Swipe from the left or tap ☰ in the top-left corner to open the navigation drawer:
| Menu item | Destination |
|---|---|
| Inicio | /home |
| Líneas | /lines — browse all transit lines |
| Cerca de mí | /nearby — stops near your location |
| Favoritos | /favorites — your saved routes |
| Mi Perfil | /profile — account and wallet |
| Iniciar sesión | /login — if not logged in |
2. Route Detail (/route-detail/:lineId/:routeId)
The Route Detail Page opens when you tap a suggestion from the home page search results. It shows the full path of your selected route on the map.
Map overlay
- Teal line — the full bus route from start to end
- Blue dotted line — your walking path to the boarding stop
- Grey dotted line — your walking path from the alighting stop to your destination
- Green marker — your boarding stop (where you get on)
- Red marker — your alighting stop (where you get off)
- Blue dot — your current location
Stop list
Below the map, a scrollable list shows all checkpoints/stops along the route in order. Your boarding and alighting stops are highlighted.
Live tracking
If a bus is currently active on this route, its position appears on the map as a moving pin. The ETA to your boarding stop is shown in the header and updates automatically.
Actions
- Guardar como favorito — save this route to your Favorites.
- Compartir ruta — share the route details via your phone's share menu.
3. GTFS Route Detail (/gtfs-route-detail)
The GTFS Route Detail Page is used for cities where transit data is provided in GTFS format (General Transit Feed Specification) rather than the live tracking database — currently used for Cochabamba.
It works the same as the standard Route Detail page with the following differences:
- Stops and schedules come from static GTFS feed data rather than the real-time system.
- Live bus tracking (moving pin on map) is not available for GTFS routes.
- Scheduled departure times are shown for each stop instead of live ETA.
4. Nearby Stops (/nearby)
The Nearby Page shows all transit stops and active buses within a radius of your current location.
What you see
- Map view — your location in the center, with nearby stops shown as pins.
- Stop list — a scrollable list below the map showing stop names and the lines that serve each stop.
How to use
- Open the drawer and tap Cerca de mí, or navigate to
/nearby. - The app requests your GPS location (grant permission when prompted).
- The map loads with stops nearest to you.
- Tap any stop pin or list item to see which lines serve that stop and their current status.
Tip
Enable "Always allow" location permission in your phone settings for the most accurate nearby results.
5. All Lines (/lines)
The Lines Page lets you browse all transit lines available in your city, without entering a specific destination.
Layout
- A searchable list of all lines, grouped by syndicate or numbered in order.
- Each line shows its line number, name, and operating syndicates.
- A search bar at the top lets you filter by line number or name.
How to use
- Open the drawer and tap Líneas.
- Scroll or search for the line you want.
- Tap any line to open the Line Detail Page.
6. Line Detail (/lines/:id)
The Line Detail Page shows all information about a single transit line.
What you see
- Line name and number in the header.
- Operating syndicate — the transport cooperative that runs this line.
- Available routes — a list of the route directions (e.g. Ida, Vuelta). Tap a route to see its checkpoints on the map.
- Map preview — the full polyline path of the line on a map.
- Checkpoint list — all stops in order for the selected route direction.
Actions
- Tap Guardar favorito to save this line to your Favorites list.
- Tap a route direction card to open the full Route Detail view for that direction.
7. Favorites (/favorites)
The Favorites Page stores the routes and lines you use most often for quick access.
Adding favorites
You can add a line or route to your favorites from: - The Line Detail Page — tap the star icon or "Guardar favorito" button. - The Route Detail Page — tap "Guardar como favorito".
Using favorites
- Open the drawer and tap Favoritos.
- Your saved lines and routes appear in a list.
- Tap any favorite to go directly to its detail page or to get directions from your current location.
Removing favorites
- Swipe left on any favorite in the list, or tap the trash icon to remove it.
- Favorites are stored locally on your device — they are not synced to other devices unless you log in.
8. Login Page (/login)
The app uses passwordless authentication. You verify your identity with a one-time code sent to WhatsApp — no password to remember.
Most features (route search, line browsing, live tracking) work without logging in. You need an account for:
- Saving favorites across devices
- Wallet balance and fare payments (coming soon)
- QR boarding pass (coming soon)
Steps
- Open the drawer and tap Iniciar sesión, or tap the Profile tab.
- The Login Page appears.
- Enter your phone number with country code (e.g.
+591 71234567). - Tap Solicitar código (Request code).
- Open WhatsApp — you will receive a 6-digit code from the official syncc account.
- Enter the code in the app.
- Tap Verificar (Verify).
First-time users: If you have never used the app before, an account is created automatically the first time you verify. No additional registration steps are required.
9. Profile Page (/profile)
The Profile Page shows your account information and wallet.
Account information
- Your registered phone number
- Your name (if provided during registration)
- Session management — Cerrar sesión (Log out) button
Wallet & Payments (coming soon)
Coming soon
The wallet and payment features are built into the app but will be activated in a future update.
When activated, the profile page will show:
Saldo Disponible (Available Balance)
- Your current wallet balance in Bolivianos (Bs.).
- A transaction history of all recharges and fare deductions.
Agregar saldo (Add balance)
To recharge your wallet:
- Tap Agregar saldo.
- Enter the amount you want to add.
- Tap Recargar (Recharge).
- Complete payment through the payment gateway.
- Your balance updates immediately once the payment is confirmed.
10. My QR Code (/my-qr) (coming soon)
Coming soon
The QR boarding pass feature will be activated in a future update. The information below explains how it will work.
The My QR Page displays your digital boarding pass — a QR code that the driver scans when you board the bus.
How it will work
- Tap the Mi QR floating button on the home page (visible after login).
- Your personal QR code is generated and displayed full-screen.
- Present your phone screen to the driver — they scan the code with the driver app.
- Your wallet balance is deducted automatically for the fare.
- A boarding banner appears at the top of your home page confirming you are on the bus, showing the line name and elapsed time.
- When you exit the bus, the driver scans again to log your exit. The banner disappears.
Tip
Keep your screen brightness high when showing the QR to the driver. The scanner works best in good lighting.
11. QR Scanner (/scanner) (coming soon)
Coming soon
This feature will be activated in a future update.
The Scanner Page allows passengers to scan QR codes at bus stops or validation terminals. It is used in stations or stops equipped with QR validators instead of a driver-facing scanner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to create an account to use the app? No. Route search, live bus tracking, and line browsing work without an account. Create an account only when you want to use the wallet and QR payment features (coming soon) or sync your favorites across devices.
The map is not showing my location. Grant the Location permission to the Syncc Pasajero app in your phone's settings. Go to Settings → Apps → Syncc Pasajero → Permissions → Location → While using the app.
No buses appear on the map even though it is operating hours. The map only shows buses that have an active trip dispatched through the driver app. During early morning or late evening hours, or on Sundays, fewer buses may be tracked. Also check your internet connection.
A route suggestion is showing a very long walking time. The walking calculation is based on actual road distances, not straight-line distance. If you are far from a bus stop, the walking leg may be long. Try searching from a point closer to a major stop or look for nearby stops using the Cerca de mí feature.
The app search shows no results for my destination. Try a different spelling or use a nearby landmark or cross street instead of a specific address. Transit coverage may vary by neighborhood — not all areas are served by tracked lines.
I logged in but my favorites from a previous phone are gone. Favorites are currently stored locally on the device. Cloud sync will be added in a future update. If you changed phones, you will need to re-add your favorite routes.
